Credibl Appoints Former Deloitte Sustainability Leader Viral Thakker as Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer

28-year industry veteran to drive global expansion of Credibl’s AI-powered sustainability platform amid accelerating ESG mandates.

[SAN FRANCISCO / MUMBAI – November 10, 2025] – Credibl, the AI-powered sustainability management platform trusted by more than 150 global organizations, today announced that Viral Thakker has joined as Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer.

The appointment marks a pivotal moment in Credibl’s global expansion, as enterprises face mounting regulatory pressure and investor scrutiny around ESG data transparency and assurance.

From Big Four to High Growth Tech: A Strategic Pivot

Thakker brings 28 years of sustainability and strategic transformation experience, most recently serving as Deloitte’s Global Consulting Services Sustainability Technology & Transformation Leader and Head of Sustainability & Climate Practice for South Asia.

At Deloitte, he led large-scale sustainability programs for multinational corporations, helping clients navigate net-zero transitions while building the firm’s Climate & Sustainability Center of Excellence (CoE) for Asia Pacific. He also championed Deloitte’s WorldClimate initiative across South Asia and forged a landmark alliance with IIT Roorkee to advance climate innovation at scale.

“After nearly three decades helping enterprises design sustainability and business strategies, I’ve seen firsthand how companies struggle with fragmented data systems and mounting compliance complexity,” said Thakker. “What convinced me to join Credibl was the team’s agility in solving real client problems and the platform’s ability to operationalize sustainability through AI-driven automation. The Smart Sustainability Stack addresses the fundamental challenge of turning disparate data into audit-ready disclosures that meet evolving global standards.”

Earlier, he led Deloitte’s Strategy, M&A, and Analytics practice, advising global clients on business transformation and growth. Prior to that, he built KPMG India’s Shared Services & Outsourcing Advisory Practice and served on its Board of Directors. He began his career at Daimler-Benz Research and Technology, working on early telematics and mobility innovations.

Regulatory Pressures Drive Platform Adoption

The appointment comes as sustainability reporting shifts from voluntary disclosure to mandatory compliance. Regulatory frameworks including the EU’s CSRD and emerging mandates across Asia Pacific now require multinational corporations to report audited environmental and social impacts across their value chains—aligning with multiple standards including GRI, TCFD, and CDP.

What enterprises previously managed through spreadsheets now demands enterprise-grade infrastructure capable of handling audit requirements and framework complexity at scale.

“Viral’s appointment is transformational for Credibl,” said Jitesh Shetty, Co-Founder and CEO. “He brings not only deep sustainability transformation expertise but also the credibility and network that will accelerate our enterprise expansion. As regulatory requirements intensify and assurance standards tighten, companies need a trusted technology partner who understands both the compliance landscape and the transformation journey. Viral embodies that combination.”

The appointment follows Credibl’s strong momentum in the enterprise segment, where companies are implementing the platform to manage everything from Scope 3 emissions tracking to comprehensive supplier sustainability assessments and multi-framework reporting.

Proven Track Record, Strategic Vision

Thakker holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai. He currently advises Project Mumbai on its Mumbai Climate Week 2026 initiative, reinforcing his role as a thought leader in South Asia’s sustainability movement.

“The market inflection point is clear,” Thakker added. “Sustainability has moved from voluntary CSR initiatives to mandatory disclosure requirements embedded in enterprise risk management, supply chain resilience, and access to capital. Companies that build robust data infrastructure now will be positioned for competitive advantage. Those that delay will face material consequences – from regulatory penalties to investor scrutiny to market access barriers.”

With Thakker leading global business strategy, Credibl aims to become the backbone for corporate sustainability data management and reporting worldwide—enabling enterprises to transform from compliance burden to strategic performance management.
